Will Power - Ideal for 5th graders

Will Power is the sixth book in the Royal Fireworks philosophy curriculum. It features two kids, Will and Foo, who find themselves in a race against time to stop a man who has developed a frequency that will reveal the human brain to be a machine. In fact, he has already zapped Will, and Will and Foo must stop him before he can broadcast his frequency to the rest of humankind. In the process, they struggle with the question of free will, as discussed by such philosophers as Albert Einstein, Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epicurus, Lucretius, and Sartre. They also explore the philosophical skills of making careful observations, defending a position, and tolerating ambiguity.

Eastern Philosophy Curriculum by Ingrid Klass - Ideal for 6th graders

During the eighth through the third centuries BCE, changing social and political environments led many philosophers in different places across Asia and Europe to engage in intense and extraordinary questioning of established institutions and beliefs. The result was a great shifting of ideas about reality, ethics, the individual, and society. Plato, Aristotle, the Buddha, Zoroaster, Confucius, and many other philosophers all lived during this intellectually vibrant and exciting period. In many cases, these philosophers engaged in lively debates with one another, and several of the ensuing philosophies developed into major world religions.

These books introduce preteens and teens to the fundamentals of Eastern philosophy in a fun and engaging way. The storyline, centered on the problem of how to find happiness, will draw them in and help them find connection with the concepts. The lessons they learn as they follow Mae on her journey will stay with them for a lifetime.

Noumenal Realm Trilogy - Ideal for 7th and 8th graders

The Noumenal Realm Trilogy contains gorgeous, full-color works of art, including some renowned masterpieces. In these books, a group of middle school students enters the past through virtual reality simulations, where they engage with famous philosophers and scientists who are the heart of the Western intellectual tradition.

This guidebook can be used by instructors, but it has been written to be accessible to students themselves so that they can delve deeper into the philosophical content that is the basis for the novel. It provides for each chapter a summary of the plot developments, a philosophical basis for the key concepts of the chapter, discussion questions, and suggestions for further exploration to extend the learning.
