INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Welcome prospective team members!
Our Interns:
Philosophy for Kids is unique because it is taught completely by undergraduate college students. This gives them the opportunity to take on leadership roles while empowering their students to do the same.
About the Program:
The John Carroll University Department of Philosophy is pleased to invite applications for the Philosophy for Kids (P4K) Internship. This program sends JCU undergraduates out into local schools to teach philosophy. We are currently partnered with the Step-up gifted program in the South-Euclid-Lyndhurst school district. We offer 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes once per week.

What does an intern do? The P4K program is sponsored by the Shula Endowment. It pays $12 per hour, five hours per week, for thirty weeks (fifteen weeks in fall and spring semesters). Interns need to arrange their own transportation to the local schools. They are in the classroom for approximately one hour each week; the other 4 hours are for class preparation. Preference is given to philosophy majors and minors but all other JCU undergraduate students are warmly invited to apply.
Applications:
The call for applications is normally posted by April 1st each year at JCU's Career Center: https://jcu.joinhandshake.com/login. Successful applicants will be notified by May 1st. Interns are asked to sign a contract by August 25th for employment in the fall. Half-year (one semester) or full-year (two semesters) employment is available, but preference is given to students willing and able to commit to a full year.
Please feel free to contact us at any point if you have any questions about our program or what our interns do during their internship period.
